Trending this spring summer 2013: STRIPES



I don't think I have to remind you that one of the principal trends for the next season is: Stripes.
Why stripes? well because it's a timeless print, that makes a come back every season since the 1800's. It is also a casual and chic appearance that looks fabulous in the street aswell as in the red carpet.
This season, spring summer 2013, many designers included basic items in their collections (like pants, blouses, tshirts,...), giving them a new air with multicolored stripes. Even in the street the fashionistas showed how easy and refined this style could be.


Probably, you have at least one striped item in your closet, but if you don't have summery ones don't worry, just follow this mini shopping guide on what to purchase, and how to wear them correctly depending on your silhouette.

The question that remains is, horizontal or vertical stripes?
Some studies say that women look fatter, than they really do, if they wear vertical stripes. In an other hand, almost all the stylists advice us to wear vertical stripes to give our thighs a thin aspect.
HELP! It's confusing, isn't it?

Don't panic! Just do one thing, respect your body and choose the perfect lines that will give it a good proportion. Use a three-way mirror to have a complete view on how the pieces look on you, if you're convinced enough then don't hesitate to buy them, no matter what type of lines they are. Our vision get easily distracted by geometric and repetitive patterns, which makes this style a tad risky to combine with other prints, The best way to make a contrast is to wear stripes with plain colored fabrics. Nevertheless, if you think you're bold enough, then try to mix match stripes with polka dots or florals, like did balmain in his resort collection of 2013.


If you like this trend and want to prove it to the entire world, you can also opt to double the dose of stripes and wear a matching suit, make sure it is in the same hue and that the stripes are vertical, to win a smooth aspect.
